Abstract
This study investigates co-ordination and control of building services relative to the building process by studying in detail a single project. The case study is analysed to establish a pattern of co-ordination relative to a building process model, and to identify constraints against co-ordination in practice. The cost of building services co-ordination problems is also studied. The study demonstrated the applicability of the case study method of analysis but concluded that a much larger number of cases would need to be studied in order to isolate constraints acting against co-ordination and to enable recommendations to improve the design process to be made.
