Abstract
Two hundred and twenty items written about New Zealand English between 1970 and 1999 have been arranged into a bibliography - designed with both the interested layperson, and tertiary Linguistics or English student, in mind. The descriptive annotations are approximately fifty words long and explain the main focus of the writing, some details of research processes and include references to critical reviews where available. They are numbered and indexed by author, book and periodical title. The annotations are divided into five parts - General Discussion, Linguistic Factors, Sociolinguistic Factors and Research Methodology, Reference Works and peripheral work on New Zealand English. Details of periodicals useful to research into New Zealand English and for updating this bibliography are listed. Tertiary courses currently offered relating to New Zealand English are also outlined.Items are mainly available from either/or the Victoria University of Wellington Library and the National Library of New Zealand. Those only available from alternative libraries have been noted.
