dc.description.abstractGothic was the style of medieval Europe. Gothic architecture was built for, and by, a uniquely religious society. The style was, however, the result of the move towards a more secular society, and can be seen as a representation of the progress being made by medieval man in philosophy, science and technology.en_NZ
