Abstract
The large influx of Chinese immigrants into New Zealand in the last decade raises the awareness of the history of Chinese settlement in New Zealand. Many works had been produced since the beginning of the 20TH century. Upon examining the literature, it is found that there are sufficient resources covering the topic of Chinese history in New Zealand. However, the resources vital to understanding the history of Chinese settlement solely within the Auckland region is widely dispersed across different institutions or hidden within resources focusing on other major subjects. Also, access to some of these information is yet to be made available electronically. As a result, an annotated bibliography is developed to address this gap in the literature. By examining the resources held in four major public libraries and one academic library within Auckland via card catalogues and electronic databases, it is hope that the resources located and documented in this annotated bibliography will aid the public and researchers with information to further investigate the history of Chinese in Auckland. It can also provide a foundation for compiling related resources covering Chinese history in various parts of New Zealand, as well as promoting the resources that were previously hidden or widely dispersed.
