Abstract
The definitions of Architecture appear to be evolving. The title Architect and the term Architecture are no longer exclusively defined within the construction industry. These terms are now associated in several industries outside the profession of Architecture, including the industries of Information Technology, Business Finance, and Cosmetics. The multitude of Architectural terms created within these industries, are evolving at an increasing and uncontrolled rate. This rate of semantic change appears to be progressing far more rapidly then the public's ability to absorb, evaluate, and configure a response to this shift. This phenomenon is largely caused through the lack of clarity and identity within Architectures definition. This lack of clarity has now lead to several unforeseen implications within the profession of Architecture. Therefore, this work presents, 'Has the status of the profession of Architecture been diminished through the rhetorical erosion of the definitions of Architect and Architecture?'
