The term "nitrosyl" is used as a general name for compounds of the NO group, and "nitrosonium" is applied only to compounds containing discrete N0+ ions. A wide range of metal nitrosyl complexes is known, and because of the different possible methods of bonding to the metal, the NO group is one of the most interesting of ligands. Covalent nitrosyl molecules include the following:en_NZ
