Abstract
The thesis explores a method for the successful integration of urban design principles into contemporary city-making process. In achieving this it introduces a "theoretical" model for an urban design framework to facilitate a co-ordinated urban development, integrated to its context.
The research is based on a literature review and an assessment of recent case studies. It also reflects the personal experience of the author.
The relevance of the model for contemporary urban design practice and the possibilities for its application in various contexts are demonstrated through a test of its methodological usefulness and practical value.
