Abstract
The noise power radiation of a gaseous discharge tube has been measured at 200Mc/s. The result for a 3.7cm internal diameter fluorescent tube is in reasonable agreement with measurements taken at higher frequencies. The method used is based on a noise power comparison across equal admittances with a temperature limited noise diode and is therefore capable of giving absolute results. Correction factors for dissipation loss, are deduced from an efficiency circle measurement. The construction of a low noise factor receiver, a 200Mc/s waveguide system and a micro strip noise mount are also described.
