dc.description.abstract The Parliamentary Library, formerly the General Assembly Library, is one of New Zealand's oldest libraries. It was established in the mid-19th century and has remained active into the 21st century. Its collection was at one time the most important in the country, and for twenty years it was part of the National Library. Several notable figures in the New Zealand library sector have held the position of Chief Librarian. However no history of the institution has yet been written. This bibliography has been prepared as an aid to future researchers investigating the Library and its activities. It presents material on such topics as the Library building, the services provided to Members of Parliament and other clients over the years, and the part the General Assembly Library played in the establishment of the National Library. en_NZ
