dc.description.abstract |
This is an annotated bibliography on Mana Island, Cook Strait, New Zealand. It is a collection of information resources on the topic of Mana Island's history to 1973, when it became a government facility. Currently undergoing re-vegetation and use as a wildlife sanctuary by the Department of Conservation, Mana Island has an interesting natural history that has been explored by archaeologists and other scientists, and an important cultural history that includes interaction with the early Maori in the 1500s, the Ngati Toa in the 1800s and European farmers and government departments in the 1900s. The 100 or more information resources included in this bibliography discusses and reveals the history of Mana Island to 1973. Contains indexes, a time line, and introductory material |
