dc.description.abstract The genesis for Attwood's study was, in large part, Calvert's (1990) article lamenting the slight number of scholarly articles on Library and Information topics published in New Zealand.comparison with Attwood's findings in this study will show whether there had been a trend in New Zealand Libraries towards more research being published. This paper comprises chiefly two parts; 1. A survey of the literature which discusses the citation analysis methodology with reference to studies on Library and Information Science literature and 2. An analysis of New Zealand Libraries citation patterns between 1990 and 1997. This part includes comparisons with Attwood's findings and findings from other studies. Analysis of the content of New Zealand Libraries 1990-1997 is also included to provide a background to the quantitative data that is presented. Prior to the citation analysis literature review and citation analysis of New Zealand Libraries, 1990-1997, an overview of the contents of the journal is presented to provide a background to the study. en_NZ
