dc.description.abstract Many authors comment on the need for research into the history of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles (NZMR) as an important and neglected topic. Although there are some bibliographies extant, these are of limited scope and not annotated. They are therefore of limited assistance to researchers. The selective, annotated bibliography of published material in Part I is supplemented by a resource guide in Part II that opens up the major museum holdings throughout the country for NZMR researchers. Certainly, no other study has been located that attempts to cover other media, physical artefacts and primary sources. This project gathers together resources widely dispersed geographically, that are not widely known and which have not been gathered together before. This is particularly true for media other than published material. This bibliography and resource guide provides a means of accessing institutions that hold NZMR material and the significance of such holdings. The bibliography and resource guide are highly accessible to users by consecutive numbering of all entries and a subject index. Coverage of other media and artefacts is important for all audiences. Local holdings of materials will enable those who use the project to ascertain whether their research is feasible locally and enable planning to be undertaken. en_NZ
