dc.description.abstract Annotated bibliography of selected resources on the subject of composting, organic waste recycling and worm farming. Focuses on current initiatives in operation in the areas of central government, local government, industry, local communities and schools within New Zealand. Structured to function as a tool-kit of information resources to assist those involved with teaching environmental education, sustainable development and waste minimisation in New Zealand. Provides access to a wide range of composting and worm farming methods and techniques for the processing of kitchen scraps, organic garden waste, and commercial and industrial organic wastes. Includes methods suitable for home gardeners, urban dwellers, schools, lifestyle farmers, farmers and organic growers. Contains information resources concerned with research into the collection, processing and disposal of refuse from municipal collections. Teaching materials for school-based organic recycling schemes include resources on earthworms and the nature of soil, composting techniques and worm farming techniques. The utilisation of the products of composting and worm farming are seen as of growing importance and resources on this topic are included. en_NZ
