dc.description.abstract A research project evaluating users' perceptions of the exhibition as a method of intellectual access to collections at the National Library. The questionnaire methodology was used to interview 200 users of the National Library to measure use/non-use of the National Library Gallery while indicating respondents' overall perceptions of the gallery. Demographic data was also collected. Data analysis indicated high usage, positive perceptions, and minimal perceptual deterrents among those respondents aware of the gallery. Demographic characteristics were not associated with perception or frequency of visitation. Intellectual access to collections is hindered by awareness of the gallery, indicating a need to address visibility and promotion. en_NZ
