dc.description.abstract This annotated bibliography has been compiled because no annotated bibliography has been found of recently published children's books readily available in New Zealand for teachers about children who have special needs. It is designed to be a resource for primary school teachers so they are able to have books available in their classroom that include children with permanent special needs. It includes permanent impairments and permanent medical conditions that are likely to affect a child's learning and or socialising in a school situation. It has an extensive subject index that includes the general topics in the books as well as the special needs and related topics. These books can be used for the current topic in the classroom so all children will learn to be inclusive of people with special needs, in a variety of situations. Also, a child with a special need will be able to see other people who have a special need like themselves in books. en_NZ
