dc.description.abstract |
This research analyses the social impact on the local community of the business process reengineering of Wellington City Libraries between 1996 and 1998. This is achieved through a content analysis of the issues arising from the restructuring published in local newspapers, and, an analysis of the theory behind the use and suitability of business process reengineering as a restructuring tool in the public sector in conjunction with the case studies that have arisen since the theory was developed. The research finds there was a measurable social impact in the case of Wellington City Libraries and that business process reengineering is not a suitable tool to use to restructure public sector organisations. |
