dc.description.abstract This bibliography is a collection of references to information sources relating to the Rangitoto Island Bach Communities. Under the administration of the Rangitoto Island Domain Board permission was given to build baches on Rangitoto between 1911 and 1937. Since their inception the baches have met with opposition from a variety of sources. The baches have slowly been removed until only 33 currently remain. This is a study of New Zealand culture (recognition of the cultural heritage of the baches and their associated lifestyle); of New Zealand architecture, particularly vernacular architecture; and of the processes of administration in New Zealand which allowed the baches to be built on public land and have as yet failed to remove them. en_NZ
