dc.description.abstract This essay examines overseas literature that investigates the use of Web Sites on the Internet for marketing and in particular the promotion of library and information services. By outlining the development and application of marketing to the library and information environment this essay argues that the Internet can provide a cost effective, fluid and efficient means of promoting information services. This literature will also discuss the use of Internet connections in New Zealand libraries and outline the arguments as to why Internet marketing is so applicable to the New Zealand library and information environment. Web Site content and creation are addressed, as are issues specific to the creation and content of New Zealand library and information Web Sites. en_NZ
