The initial focus for this report was to investigate the detail
as the ornament in current architectural works. However, in
order to achieve this I found myself investigating the
discourse surrounding ornamentation. Consequently, the
following discussion begins by unveiling the ornament so
that its qualities can be seen as inherent in the detail. I have
then chosen the work of Herzog & de Meuron to explore the
detail as their architecture exhibits the qualities most
explicitly. |
