dc.description.abstract To My Winter - Composed in 2002, the piece was written for a contemporary music specialist in Hamburg, Germany where it was given its first but unrecorded performance. First Ice (Lachrymae) - A contemplative Dowlandesque line weaves its way through a disruptive, destructive and dark sound world. The work was written for The Britten-on-the-Bay Composition Contest in New York. Impulsion - Written in 2002, Impulsion was recorded during the 2002 Nelson Composers' Workshop. Third Fragment - This short miniature forms the third movement from a four-movement piece written between 2001 and 2003. Along with the other movements the third fragment is based on the abstractions of ideas and inspirations drawn from Chinese paintings. The way in which the paintings lack borders through the disintegration and distortion of detail into the surrounding expanse was of great interest to me and translated musically. en_NZ
