dc.description.abstract A detailed analysis of the response of a meson telescope to extensive air showers shows that the telescope is not a satisractory instrument for increasing the directivity of an associated shower detecting array. The analysis rerers to an experiment performed at Victoria University of Wellington by N. G. Chapman, but the telescope is also shown to be unsatisfactory in general when associated with a shower array. en_NZ
