The informative article in the New Zealand school journal, 1907-1948

Abstract

In preparing this thesis, I selected for particular analysis the Journals of the years 1907, 1908, 1914, 1920, 1926, 1931, 1939, 1943, and 1948. Generally the word 'Journal' or 'Journals' in the text refers specifically to these volumes, but sometimes it denotes all the Journals of the period 1907-48, which these volumes represent. Originally I intended to include with the informative article sections on fiction, poetry, and drama, and a further section in which some themes, such as the treatment of nature, would be followed through all departments of the Journal. But the informative article has involved me in so much that I have been unable in a paper of this size to complete the project. I have, however, assured myself as far as possible that nothing said here of a general character would be contradicted by anything arising from the other departments of the Journal. What the other sections would have provided, and what I regret the lack of, is amplification and greater strength.
