dc.description.abstract This report studies the changing philosophies in church architecture as an introduction to church architecture in Wellington. It presents a listing of church buildings constructed in the Wellington city area in the past thirty years. Included are their location, the name of the architect who designed them and the year they were completed. Eight case studies have been selected providing information on the building's background, desired use, and physical form. A short appraisal of each is included. This provides an insight into some of the differing attitudes to what a church building should be providing the basis for a panel discussion. The listing of buildings can be used by people thinking of building a new church to evaluate their own requirements. en_NZ
