dc.description.abstract The effect on architecture of the urban motorway was the topic that finally caught my imagination, after considering a number of subjects dealing with a diverse variety of architectural issues. The inspiration came from some of my courses at the School of Architecture, and more specifically individual projects dealing with the issues of urban design and cities. The topic is very relevant to Wellington presently, with debate continuing over the intended Wellington Urban Motorway Extension. This, incidentally, will run past the back of the property where I now live (and through the site of the place I last lived). Therefore, motivated by the "current affair" aspect of the topic and my interest in urban design, I decided that this was a captivating topic, worthy of a half-year's research by me. en_NZ
