dc.description.abstract The architectural style of commercial and public buildings erected in Wellington city between W.W.1 and W.W.2 is outlined in this report. The transition which occurred from the decorative Beaux Art tradition through to the International Style has been traced, and the stylistic tendencies evident during this period have been described and analysised in relation to the contemporary architectural thought and practice of the time. Notable and distinctive buildings, as well as those which depict the stylistic tendencies and developments have been described and illustrated. en_NZ
