dc.description.abstract The present work is concerned with certain aspects of the thermal or non photochemical addition of halogens to unsaturated organic compounds. Kinetic measurements have been made of chlorine and bromine additions to some 1, 2 - unsaturated sulphones and the theoretical implications are discussed. At the same time, certain other compounds hare been examined as part of a general scheme of investigation into the nature of halogen addition to acetylenes. The solvent used in all experiments was acetic acid. en_NZ
