dc.description.abstract Much investigation has been carried out on the addition of halogens to ethylenic compounds, and a review of the literature indicates the variety of factors to be studied. The reactions, both in aqueous and non-aqueous solvents, and mixtures of the two, are deserving of further study, and the following discussion is placed under the headings given below :- 1. Kinetics of the Reaction. 2. The effect of Temperature. 3. The effect of the Solvent. 4. The effect of Water. 5. The effect of Hydrogen Bromide and its influence on Isomerism. en_NZ
