dc.description.abstract |
The kinetics of halogen addition have developed almost entirely during the last forty years, beginning with isolated experiments which have been extended to cover a large number of compounds. Recent work, using an improved technique, has been of a more systematic nature and theories have been proposed to explain the complex mechanism of halogen addition and substitution. This introduction is intended as a survey of previous work on halogen addition to olefinic compounds. The subject of photo-addition will not be discussed as it would be irrelevant to the experimental work presented herein. |
