dc.description.abstract Although there are guidelines for the conservation of historic buildings, at present there is no such guidelines for earthquake strengthening of historic buildings. The aim of this report is try and gauge the level of compliance with the ICOMOS Charter, which is the recognised set of guidelines and principles for conservation of such buildings. The study of nine historic buildings are measured against some of the key principles of the ICOMOS Charter and the results are analysed. The principles are discussed, conclusions drawn and recommendations given. en_NZ
