dc.description.abstract The aim of this research project was to establish a model system for managing alterations work in the architect's office. Existing project delivery strategies were examined and one was adapted for use on renovations. It was then used to run the pre-construction phases of a small domestic alterations job, and conclusions were drawn on its workability and profitability. The model strategy was found to be a valuable and convenient tool, but if alterations are to be profitable for the architect (s)he will need to standardise procedures for greater efficiency and adopt a more appropriate fee system than the standard charge. en_NZ
