dc.description.abstract 1. The primary aim of this investigation is to determine the relationship between Rote Memory and school work as measured by achievement tests of reading, spelling, arithmetic and written expression. In designing an experiment to examine this relationship a number of reference tests were included in the test battery, and these acted as guides to interpretation, (a) when conclusions were drawn from the actual correlations. (b) When the correlation matrix was analysed by two factorial techniques. 2. Secondary aims of this experiment are: (a) The determination and discussion of correlations between the six achievement tests and all other tests. (b) The determination of the best predictor of of academic success (all tests included). (c) The determination of the best predictor of academic success (reference tests only). en_NZ
