dc.description.abstract The life and work of William Gray Young (1885-1962) have been described in this report. As a notable architect in New Zealand's recent history; a biography of his life, including both his personal and professional characteristics are contained in this report. That is followed by a general overview of the work he produced, both by himself and in combination with the firm he established. His work, including the influences, stylistic tendencies and developments, has been described and placed in perspective within both the economic and architectural scene in New Zealand and overseas. A selected number of examples that illustrate and describe his major and typical work, have also been included. en_NZ
