dc.description.abstract The RIBA competition is an annual event open to all students of architecture around the world. The 1988 competition is the sixth to be held, refer appendix J. Apart from the prestige and monetary rewards available to the students who are placed in the competition students have the opportunity of matching their skills at an international level. Section 3.2 of my report concentrates on the other schools who compete in the competition. Section 3.3 concentrates on the programme at the VUW SOA and how suited it is to the abilities of the students. As part of my research I entered the competition to give myself first hand knowledge of the difficulties involved in producing an entry. My conclusions draw comparisions between other schools and VUW SOA with recommendations for future competition programmes based on the findings. en_NZ
