dc.description.abstract A history of the Wellington architectural practice known today as The Haughton Partnership is outlined in this report. The study covers the fifty years from the first partnership agreement in 1901 but also considers the individual work of the two founding partners from 1879. In addition to notable and significant buildings, certain other distinctive designs have been chosen to be described in detail. They have been used to illustrate and analyse the influence and effect that historical events, economic climate, architectural thought and style, differing markets and changing personnel in the firm have had on the work of the practice in particular and Wellington in general. Brief biographies of the partners of the firm over the period in question are included. en_NZ
