dc.description.abstract The basis for this study is that artists can make critical comments and useful contributions to designers. It involves a survey of paintings depicting buildings as found in recent exhibitions in Wellington, and exploration of the concerns therein, and their relevance to architecture. This study observes and interprets the messages paintings have about buildings and expands on their significance for designers. Identified themes are divided into three contexts; Nature, Buildings and People. A precis version of these are available in Summary of Findings. en_NZ
