dc.description.abstract This report identifies issues important to the development and practice of the contemporary christian architect. Through investigation of the convictions of christian architects within New Zealand and relevant literature sources. These are discussed with the view to enabling 'contemporary christian architects' to develop their own individual understanding and approach to architecture within a common framework, the 'christian faith'. The first chapter describes historically some of the issues which have been at the centre of the expression of christian belief in architecture. The following six chapters are a discussion of important issues identified by the author within the period of research. The final chapter concludes and identifies areas for future discussion.
