dc.description.abstract Maldives is now in the process of reforming its building control system. One of the main objectives of this research is to identify the most appropriate building control system for Maldives. New Zealand recently changed from a prescriptive to a performance-based building control system after extensive research into the various options available. Particular attention is paid to the new system in New Zealand; the reasons for the change, the hoped for outcomes and the actuality. This research is then assessed for its relevance to the conditions of Maldives. en_NZ
