dc.description.abstract Establishing a code of ethics is part of the process whereby an occupation becomes a profession. The ethical bases of medicine and of knowledge creation and information management together assist in defining the ethical base of the group of activities which comprise the tasks of health information specialists. These, in conjunction with the principles embodied in professional ethics, form the basis of a framework for a code of ethics for this occupational group. en_NZ
