dc.description.abstract The purpose of this Thesis is to describe the growth and to assess the influence of the Douglas Social Credit Movement during the Depression years 1930 to 1935. No attempt has been made to analyse or discuss the theory of Douglas Credit in economic terms, partly because the author is not an economist, and partly because adequate studies of this nature already exist. Emphasis has been laid instead upon the growth of the Movement, the reasons why it attracted considerable interest, and the influence of Douglas Credit monetary reform. en_NZ
