This thesis examines the writings of the astrologer William Lilly, who wrote prolifically during the 1640s. His work was important because he was the most accomplished of the few astrologers who injected political opinion and social commentary into their work. Lilly's writing clearly demonstrates how contemporary events shaped his attitudes and opinions to the Civil War and the many issues which arose as a consequence of the King warring with Parliament. |
