dc.description.abstract Down through the ages the land has been the main source of wealth to man. Cultivation of the soil was an early-known practice and yet this cultivation is still as important today. Whole countries are essentially agricultural and even the heavily industrialised countries rely on the land to provide them with food. Otaki is an area where the land is cultivated intensively and in this study of the market gardening I would seek to stress the importance of this area as an area ideally suited to gardening and hope that its importance will leave an impression with the reader. It is with this in mind that I turn to Otaki as a market gardening centre. en_NZ
