The area investigated lies to the north-east of Martinborough, southern Wairarapa. It comprises approximately seventy square miles of sub-mature undulating hill country. The Ruamahunga river forms a natural boundary to the west, and similarly the eastern boundary is formed by the Whangaehu river. The locality map shows the position and boundaries of the area (Fig 1.). |
