dc.description.abstract This is the third paper on the graptolites of the North West Nelson to appear within the last thirty years. After the publishing of the second paper (Benson and co-authors 1936) it was generally believed that little if anything new of purely palaeontological interest could be gained through a repeated study of the already known and investigated graptolite assemblages of the Mount Arthur area, should it ever be attempted. On the other hand it seemed unquestionable that much scope remained for structural and stratigraphical study, since in this mountainous and bush-covered district many of the original stratigraphical problems remained unsolved. Hope of finding new fossiliferous outcrops, representing horizons new to New Zealand Ordovician stratigraphical column, has always been entertained. en_NZ
