dc.description.abstract In this thesis we present measurements on transport properties of two different alloy systems: I Transport Properties of Amorphous CuTi Films We have measured the thermopower and resistivity of five amorphous CuTi films in the concentration range between 47% and 74% of copper and an amorphous TaIr film, in the temperature range 4 K to 300 K to investigate the electron-phonon mass enhancement on the transport properties. Our data on film samples clearly show the enhancement similar to that seen in the data on ribbon samples and we evaluate the electron-phonon coupling constants for CuTi alloys by fitting our data to the theory developed by Kaiser. II Transport measurements on Nearly Magnetic PtNi alloys In order to study the possible spin fluctuation effects on the diffusion thermopower, we have measured the low temperature thermopower [1.3 K upto 15 K] and resistivity of a few PtNi film samples and a few PtNi wire samples. In our film samples, the thickness dependent effects dominate the thermopower and resistivity making the interpretation of the results difficult. the measurements on wire samples do not show a thermopower peak due to spin fluctuations in the temperature range which we have done the measurements and further measurements up to higher temperatures are needed to make any conclusions en_NZ
