dc.description.abstract What People Want is a folio of creative writing. It comprises three sections, the first of which, 'The Hungry Woman' consists of thirty-two lyric poems. These poems are divided into three groups. In 'The Original Food' are poems of immediate personal reactions to events and places. Poems about family, friends and other people make up the second group, 'The Hungry Woman'. The concerns of these first two groups are combined in 'Cages'. 'Truth Tables', which is the middle section of the folio, contains extracts from a journal kept during the writer's stay in Wellington in 1996. The final section, 'What People Want', is made up of thirteen pieces of short fiction. en_NZ
