dc.description.abstract The main objective of the work for this thesis was to study as far as possible in quantitative terms of all the factors governing the cause of intercalation in regards to graphite and graphite-like structure compounds. In the first chapter, a brief review of all the possible factors leading to intercalation are discussed. In the following two chapters, experimental work on the compounds TiCl4, BCl3, T.C.N.E., OsO4, and N2O4, is described. The results of lack of intercalations are discussed in the various section concerned. en_NZ
