dc.description.abstract The last two years has seen a revival of public interest in the N.Z. titaniferious ironsands. This interest no doubt springs from a desire to see these potentially great mineral deposits worked economically. If this could be achieved a number of very interesting and far reaching possibilities present themselves. In 1945, a paper by B. Mason. N.Z. J. Sci. and Tech. 1945 26B 227. reviewed the case in light of modern overseas developments, and pointed out the need for some technical and pilot plant research on the problems. Further the 1946 paper by C.A. Fleming. N.Z. J. Sci. and Tech. 1946. 27B. in which he estimates the Wanganui deposit as containing 143,000,000 tons of workable sands, gives evidence of sufficient ore reserves to warrant intensive work being done. en_NZ
