dc.description.abstract This thesis on global education is to fulfil the requirements for the award of the Master of Education degree, Victoria University of Wellington, which this student enrolled in 1990. This thesis sets out: * to review the principles and practices of global education in current literature. * to assess the present state of global education within the national curriculum. This would entail conducting an interview with curriculum designers of the Ministry of Education. The object of the interview is to gauge the emphasis (if any) placed on the role of global education in the national curriculum, the extent to which global education has been implemented, the nature of these programmes, and any objections or constraints to their teaching and further development. The findings and conclusions will appear in the "Results and Discussion" section. en_NZ
