The British Ability Scales - BAS is a battery of 24 scales designed to be used by psychologists in the assessment of individual children (2 1/2-17 years). An IQ rating is obtained by administering a minimum of four designated scales.
The purpose of this study was to get an indication of how the BAS IQ compares with those from the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - Revised (WISC-R), and the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale Form L-M - (Binet).
Twenty eight children were assessed on both the WISC-R and BAS, Another 28 were given the Binet and BAS.
A correlation of .814 was found between the WISC-R and BAS IQs. The Binet correlated .716 with the BAS.
Because the BAS is relatively new, an introduction is included, to acquaint readers with its development and use. |
