dc.description.abstract |
This is a study of New Zealand's educational administration of the Cook, Niue, Samoan and Tokelauan Islands, with particular reference to the historical development and practical implementations of the scholarship scheme by which students from these Islands have come to New Zealand to further their education.
Part of the research has involved an examination of the official records of the Department of Island Territories and Islands Education, and the Appendices to the Journals of the House of Representatives. This has been supplemented by personal interviews with, scholarship students in New Zealand, and by surveys of the opinions of both Samoan students who have returned to Samoa, and New Zealand headmasters who have received scholarship students into their schools. |
